First in the World —Allogeneic Hair Transplant
Dr. Felix Mircea Popescu performed and published the world's first successful allogeneic hair transplantation using the follicular unit excision (FUE) technique — a procedure between two compatible patients (a kidney transplant recipient and their donor), with approximately 2,350 follicular units transplanted and robust growth confirmed at 6–9 months post-surgery.
This breakthrough opens new possibilities for patients with severe alopecia and limited donor supply who were previously considered untreatable. The case was selected and presented at the ISHRS World Congress in Hollywood, California.
